Debbie was an average gym goer who made one simple decision that changed her life.
Taking her fitness journey a notch further, led her wins to greater heights; from treadmill to marathons.
All this unfurled with the support of her loved ones.
Her story we share today.
“Hello, my name is Debbie and I am a proud Marathon Runner!
My running journey started 8 years ago in 2013. I was at gym with my best friend, after we finished our treadmill workouts we decided to sign-up for our first event, which was Run for the Kids 15km.
I had enjoyed longer runs so much that I became obsessed, my second 'Fun Run' was Melbourne Marathon later that year.
In training for my first Marathon I considered my Dad as my coach (who ran Marathons in the late 80's). He gave me tips, ideas and inspiration, not to mention his awesome medal collection! I was lucky to have full support from family and friends.
I have now completed 7 Full Marathons (x6 MelbMara and Great Ocean Road), countless road/trail fun runs and 70-something Parkruns.
Currently I have been hitting the trails and enjoying short distance runs. My Medal Displays make me feel happy and are keeping me motivated during Covid19 restrictions. Maybe I'll do another Marathon in 2021!”
Our mission is to help celebrate wins and inspire many more, by hanging medals properly.
Keep posting photos of your Medal Displays to our Facebook page or tag @MedalDisplays on Instagram for your chance to be featured and earn yourself a free Medal Display!
Plus, you never know who you might inspire!
We're super excited about this as we know that behind every collection of medals is an awesome story!
