Sofia lives in Sydney so has experienced extra challenges this year but she's now looking forward to competing again! In her own words, here is Sofia's story so far...
My name is Sofia Bisello and I am 13 years old. I had my introduction to water (aqua baby classes) at just 9 months old, but little did I know that swimming would be one of my greatest passions today.
In 2019, at the age of 11 I stumbled my way into NSW PSSA Swimming State Championships, and I surprised myself by qualifying for the All Schools National Swimming Championships in Victoria, where I received a silver medal in the 50m butterfly event, and so the competitive journey began.
Most of my days begin nice and early at 4.30am with stretching and I am in the pool by 5.30am, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am a member of the inspiring and motivational squad team with the Trinity Grammar Swim Club and enjoy their support and professional preparation prior to competitions.
I have made wonderful friends through my sport and feel that swimming has helped me build resilience and keeps me physically strong, healthy and happy!
I have a loving family which is always by my side, each step of the way to support me in my journey.
I thank MedalDisplays for allowing me to share my story, and I feel grateful for having my medals displayed on my bedroom wall, it reminds me of my achievements through my hard work and motivates me every day!
