This month we shine our spotlight to Tayissa Buchanan, who shows the world that you can be whatever you want, no matter your age.
After venturing in to many different sports, Tayissa found her niche in running and as her mum would put it, “running is her life”.
We are grateful to Rebecca (Tay’s mum) who shares her daughter’s inspiring fitness journey with us here.
“My daughter Tayissa is 12 years old. She has always been active. She used to do ballet, tap, cheer, drama, surfing, triathlon and Irish dancing.
In 2017, Tay decided to still do Irish dancing but to get a coach and focus on her running. She reached the NSW state level for cross country, she then made the NSW track team and competed at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide. Also winning the CDF Primary sports girl of the year award for her local diocese.
2018 and her sole focus is now her running. It has been another massive year, she made the Athletics NSW team and represented at the Australian cross country championships in Maleny QLD. In October, she won a silver medal in both the 800m and 400m at NSW All Schools and qualified for Nationals in March 2019.
We are incredibly proud of her in everything she does not just her running.
Thank you to medal displays for their awesome medal displays, she loves to look at her achievements and it makes her room look awesome.”
Our mission is to help celebrate wins and inspire many more, by hanging medals properly.
