MOM aug 2018 au

Our mission is to help you celebrate wins and inspire many more, by hanging medals properly. That's why we love seeing your photos of your achievements!

This month we shine our spotlight to Max Langdon, a budding athlete who constantly brings joy and amazement to his family with his every achievement.

We are very grateful to MAx for sharing his story...

"Hi, my name is Max, and I turned 13 this year.

I have loved to climb and be active in sports for as long as I can remember.

I asked Mum for years if I could do gymnastics and when I was eight I started at Sydney Hills Gymnastics and have been in their competitive program ever since.

I enjoy training and the challenge of learning new skills.

I compete on the Pommel Horse, Rings, Parallel Bars, Vault, High Bar and Floor.

Most weeks I train 22 hours, which means some early mornings!!

Most of the time I don't mind, but it is definitely a little harder in winter.

One of my favourite apparatus is the Pommel Horse.

I enjoy working on combinations of circles, leg swings and scissors.

This year at State Championships I was proud to be selected on the NSW Team to compete at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne.

The Level 7 Under 13 NSW Team won the Australian Team Title with a Gold Medal, which was a great team effort.

Individually I finished with a Silver Medal in 2nd All Around, winning the title of Australian Champion and the Gold Medal on the Pommel Horse and I received a Silver Medal for my parallel bars routines.

I was so surprised and happy to win these medals in front of my family who all came along to watch.

Recently I attended a 4 day camp at the AIS which I really enjoyed.

It was hard work with lots of training and workshops as well as talks from some of Australia's best gymnasts.

Later in the year, I am looking forward to competing and cheering on my Club at National Clubs Carnival on the Gold Coast.

Thanks for letting me share my story."
