This month's winner is 13 year old distance runner, James Johnson!
James has had to overcome some challenges along the way and we're grateful to his running team for sharing his story with us...
"James Johnson (13 yrs) always had a knack for distance running, winning cross country at school each year.
His Mum decided to get him a coach in 2019 when he was 10 yrs old leading into the cross country season. Luckily they found Coach Tony from the Flying Eagles Running Team Https://www.facebook.
James has come a long way as a runner, not just physically but also mentally overcoming some pretty severe anxiety that had him pulling out of races or having anxiety attacks that would trigger asthma attacks during races in 2019 and even once early in 2020.
With a lot of guidance from Coach Tony and support from his family James has completely overcome those fears and races at State level consistently, qualifying for Nationals in 2021 and 2022 in the 800m and now also 2000m Steeplechase.
James's success in running has now led to a scholarship at Brisbane State High School, proving perseverance and hard work pays off.
Since 2019 James has accumulated a lot of medals which hang proudly on his Medal Display from Medaldisplays.com.au reminding him of his journey and keeping him hungry for more!"
