Parents are the child’s first mentors, best friends and buddies. Such is the case in this month’s story. Read on to learn how this mother-daughter duo, Heidi and Isabella Smith, bond over running.

In May 2016, aged 2 years, Isabella was enrolled in her first kinder dance class at All Dance Company. What started off as a social and a fun way for Isabella to interact with children of a similar age, quickly turned into a passion and a much loved hobby.

Isabella is now into her fourth year of dancing. Every year since she started dancing,  Isabella dances in two dance concerts; a mid year and end of year dance concert where she proudly shows off her improving jazz, hip-hop and tap skills and earns herself a dance medal. Isabella's mother, Heidi has also danced with her daughter. They have  danced in four concerts together.

While Isabella loves dancing she also loves to run like her mum. Also in 2016, Isabella attended her first running event with her mum and dad, Melbourne's Color Run held at Flemington. This is absolutely one of Isabella's favorite running events! Isabella is obsessed with the color and foam, loves the unicorn inspired medals and eagerly anticipates the event yearly. This year Isabella hopes to tackle her fourth color run in a row!

This year has started off a big year for Isabella as she made her Parkrun debut. She currently has ran five Parkrun's- this year-(that's a total of 25 km wow!)

Recently, Isabella also joined her mother at the 5 km Active Moreland fun run and also ran double events over the long weekend in Melbourne including at; Warburton in the 4.5km body positive stomp and the 3.5 km run the course in Seymour.

Isabella has a vast growing collection of medals that she proudly displays. Isabella wants to do taekwondo like her mum and enter more running events in the future.

We can't wait to see what she achieves next and we're sure that with Mum next to her, she has a very bright future!
