This month’s story of a young girl who lives a full life surrounded by friends and so much motivation from her family gives us so much hope and joy during these uncertain times.
Without further ado, here is Aleiah Yanock-Sebastian’s story.
“Hi my name is Aleiah and I am 10 years old, I love running and playing sports.
The first time I was in a race was when I was 2 years old and the day care I went to was holding the Olympic games, I came away with 2 gold medals, they were only cardboard but I loved them and my parents kept them for me.
When I was 5 years old I ran in my very first 5k, fun run walk to support people living with dementia. Since the age of 6, I have been active in Little Athletics and Cross Country with Little Athletics and UTAS.
I have earned many medals for centre meets and state meets. This is a good way to make friends from all over the state, and a great way to stay healthy. Outside of Little Athletics I participate in park runs and have completed in many 5k runs around Tasmania and have competed in two 10k runs in 2019.
I also train and compete in Kung Fu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and have earned 4 medals so far.
I have run the Ross 5k, Convicts and Wenches, Virtual runs for different causes and the biggest run was the Burnie Heritage 10k. I loved doing the Raw mud challenge and Burnie challenge, getting muddy is the best!
I run and play sports because it adds happiness to my life, it makes me smile and it makes other people smile as well.
Mom and Dad say it’s important that I am healthy, so I can enjoy life to the fullest.
Most of all I love my sports because it lets me make a lot of new friends and I get to catch up with old friends as well.
Thank you for picking me as this month’s winner!!
Aleiah Yanock-Sebastian”
